The San Rocco Bridge, an essential and representative symbol of the village, stands out as an architectural icon that summarizes the identity and history of the settlement. In the composition "Ancient Shadows," the San Rocco Bridge, whose shadow reflects on the underlying landscape, becomes the representation of a passage that leads to an ancient world. A place that is obscure and filled with pain. The first section of the piece describes the plague epidemic that struck Vimercate in 1630. A powerful and violent introduction leads toward a somber adagio filled with dissonances, which features a popular chant, a grieving invocation to the Virgin Mary. The middle section of the composition is very impetuous and dynamic. It portrays the flooding of the Molgora River and its tumultuous overflowing, which brought death and destruction to the village. The work ends with the vision of a crying Virgin Mary who has internalized the anguish of the population and attempts to mitigate the pain of the dead souls that must cross the bridge…
