Taking an ancient melody also known as “O Come, O Come Emmanuel”, arranger Neufeld has here created an extremely original take on a much-arranged Christmas melody.  Surprising touches in this arrangement include mixed-meter, augmentation of the melody, rich, low register voicing of trumpets, and melodic usage of bass instruments.  Along the way a flute/oboe soli performing a pointillistic counter-melody to the melody in augmentation creates a compellingly different musical moment in the center of the arrangement.  This imaginative setting has potential to be the highlight of your holiday program.
